Illustrious Sir Cecil W. (Pooch) Sisson
Potentate - 1940
The 25th Anniversary of Arabia Temple found Noble W. Cecil “Pooch” Sisson as Illustrious Potentate. Unsettled times prevailed with war underway in Europe. However, Potentate Sisson looked forward with enthusiasm to the Silver Jubilee Year.
In February, the Crippled Children’s Ball netted in excess of $26,000, thereby insuring the same way of life for our unfortunate children. The Uniformed Units were hard at work preparing for the Texas All-State meetings in Houston in May. The Drum & Bugle Corps won the first-place trophy in their competition.
Arabia’s ladies enrolled in sewing classes for the Red Cross, many Nobles enlisted in the service, and Army camps were constructed in the Houston area.
Two ceremonials assured an increase in membership for the year. The stated meetings including dinner, entertainment, and door prizes were very well attended — over 1,000 Nobles (an all-time record) attended the September meeting.
The Imperial meetings were held in June at Memphis, Tennessee, with Potentate Sisson and the representatives in attendance.
