Illustrious Sir George H. Prueter

Potentate - 1922

Arabia Temple’s Drum and Bugle Corps was organized during Illustrious George H. Pruter’s year as Potentate in 1922. Additional property, on Fannin Street northeast of the Temple, was purchased for $75,000. The baseball team continued to reap honors for Arabia Temple. And for the first time Arabia sponsored a minstrel show. All of the annual Temple events, activities, and pilgrimages including the Imperial meetings in San Francisco were continued.

In November, Potentate Pruter “dared to compete with Barnum” and produced Arabia Temple’s first Circus at the City Auditorium. It was a brilliant success, and it helped to discharge a large part of the costs of the new Fannin property.

The Temple membership went over the 3000 mark in 1922.
